AI is hijacking your attention span

Plus new improvements on Jumpspeak.

Hi friends,

Sean here, founder of Jumpspeak.

For awhile, I've wanted to find a way to stay connected with our beloved users. Especially as our user base has grown significantly over the past year.

This new, email series is hopefully one way to do that.

I’ll be sending you a personal email (when it adds value) to share updates on new features, improvements we’ve made on the product, and useful content to enrich your life.

NEUROSCIENCE
Screen time is frying our brains (Neuroscientist Explains)

I recently spoke with one of the world’s top exercise neuroscientists, Dr. Wendy Suzuki.

The topics were around:

  • the impact of social media and how it may be shortening our attention spans

  • how to maximize neuroplasticity (our brain’s ability to strengthen connections)

  • the relationship between dementia and exercise

  • & much more

Takeaway: Short-form video content is horrible for our ability to focus (as shown here), and exercise is a miracle drug for the longevity of our brains.

If you can our full conversation on YouTube, or listen to it here on Spotify.

“Every time you learn something new, your brain physically rewires itself.”

— Dr. Wendy Suzuki

UPDATE 1/2
Cutting the non-essentials

Over the past year, we’ve introduced new learning styles to match the needs of our users. However, it was clear we were shedding away our core value proposition – speaking.

This is why we made the decision to cut ‘Writing' lessons from our app completely. After speaking to many of you, we’ve learned this is a ‘nice-to-have' lesson that several were skipping through.

The update is now live, and we hope this simplifies your learning goals.

UPDATE 2/2
Speech Recognition Improvements

Last week, we made a big improvement on our speech recognition, specifically for the AI Chat lessons.

You should see noticeable accuracy when going through the lesson.

We’re also now working on transferring this improvement to the rest of our less

Chat soon,

Sean Kim, founder of Jumpspeak

ps - I’ll be starting a dedicated newsletter on Substack, where I’ll go deeper into lessons learned, insights I’ve found, tools I’m using, and more. You can subscribe for free here.
