📱 Lost my phone...

Let's practise some Spanish vocab to explain what happened to our phone.

Hola đź‘‹

Forgetting your phone in a taxi is often a worst-case scenario… Let’s use our Spanish to explain what happened.

Answers:

  1. suerte (luck)

  2. resolver (to resolve, fix)

Explanation:

  1. suerte

This Spanish word translates to "luck" in English. It refers to the phenomenon of good or bad things happening by chance, without any control or intention on the part of the individual. “Qué mala suerte!" means therefore “What bad luck!”. If you just say “Buena Suerte!”, you’re wishing someone good luck. Or you can also just simply say “Suerte!”

  2. resolver

"Resolver" means "to solve" or "to resolve" in English. It refers to the act of finding a solution to a problem or difficulty. In the conversation, when Juan hopes that Carlos can "resolverlo pronto" (resolve it soon), he hopes for Carlos to quickly find a solution to the problem of retrieving his lost phone. An alternative to use would be "solucionar", which also means “to resolve”, or “to fix” something. This is a synonym of "resolver" and can be used interchangeably and is also commonly used in everyday language.
